Norman Adams, R.A. 1927-2005
A ‘tour de force’, these sunflowers in pure watercolour are by the celebrated Royal Academician, Norman Adams. A gifted artist, who was both a traveller and a spiritual soul, Adams taught for most of his life holding positions finally as Keeper of the Royal Academy and Professor of Painting. His mature work embraced large, luminous watercolours which have been described as visual poetry. He was drawn to working in the Outer Hebrides and North Yorkshire as much as Andalucia, Italy and Provence. His work is held in many public collections including the RA collection, The Tate, The Whitworth and the Hepworth, Yorkshire.
